THE FIRST SIGN OF
PERFECT IMAN (FAITH)
The first sign of
perfect Iman (faith), as told by the Holy Prophet ﷺ, is that when a person gives something to someone, they do so
solely to please Allah Ta’alah. We spend money for a lot of reasons, to fulfil
our own needs, to fulfil the needs of our family, we spend on Sadaqah and
Khairat (non-obligatory charity), when spending money for any of these reasons
we must do so with the intention of pleasing Allah Ta’alah. For example, when
giving Sadaqah and Khairat, our intention should only be that I am giving this
charity to please Allah Ta’alah, and to earn Thawab (eternal reward). One
should not do it with an intention of earning fame or other people’s praise.
Only then it would fall within the meaning of ‘giving it for Allah’.
